For a long time the Kuivasaari was a fortress island and was administered by the army. The island is situated in the outermost archipelago of Helsinki and administered by the guild of coastal artillery veterans.They also arrange guided tours on the island. Kuivasaari has the largest, still functioning cannon of the coastal artillery. Two 305 mm cannons have survived to date. The cannons are still fired every independence day.
Departure from Kauppatori. The tasty archipelago buffet is served. The trip to island takes 2 hours. While on the island a guide tells us about the history of the island and shows us around. The return trip takes one hour.
